Smart Deal of the Week: Hawaiian Paradise for Under $350

Pick from either Pleasant Holidays' fly/drive package to Oahu or its air and land trip to Maui, both for under $400 this fall.

If you can fly out of San Francisco or Los Angeles, Pleasant Holidays (tel. 800/742-9244; www.pleasantholidays.com) is making it very affordable to travel to Hawaii this fall and winter. There are two parts to the promotion: one is a fly-drive package to Oahu, Maui, Kauai or the Big Island, priced from $299; the other is for fall travel to Oahu or Maui, priced from $399.

The $299 starting price for the fly-drive promotion provides you with round-trip airfare and a three-day car rental based on travel on Mondays during select periods in December 2009 and January 2010 to Oahu or Maui. The rates are nonrefundable and don't include taxes (which run to about $30), and they are based on double occupancy unless otherwise indicated. If you would rather go to either Kauai or the Big Island, both of those destinations are priced from $419 from both Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The promotion for fall travel includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, and all hotel taxes and entails stays at Starwood properties across the islands. You must depart on a Monday during the valid travel period of November 2-December 7 for all properties except the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa; the valid travel dates for that property are November 2-16. The base price reflects, for example, the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani in Waikiki on Oahu, priced from $399 for three nights. Elsewhere on Oahu, you can opt for the Sheraton Waikiki Resort from $495; the historic Moana Surfrider, a Westin property that dates to 1901, priced from $539; or the luxurious Royal Hawaiian, which was dubbed the "pink palace of the Pacific" upon its opening in 1927, priced from $605. Maui hotels start from $429 and climb to $535 for three nights.
