Frommer's Review

Since its completion in 1986, this 23-story luxury hotel atop Canada Place, with its cruise-ship terminal and convention center, has become a key landmark on the Vancouver waterfront. Guest rooms begin on the ninth floor, above a huge lobby with a wall of glass overlooking the mountains and the harbor. Despite its size, the hotel excels in comfort and service, and it provides spectacular views (note, however, that construction of the massive new addition to Canada Place is going on just below the hotel on the west side). Book a deluxe Harbor and Mountain room, and you can wake to see the sun glinting off the North Shore mountains, floatplanes taking off from Burrard Inlet, and cruise ships arriving and departing just below your window. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large picture windows, contemporary furnishings, and a soothing palette of colors. Bathrooms are large and luxurious. Guests have free use of a heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzi overlooking the harbor. Spa Utopia offers men and women a full array of pampering treatments. Café Pacifica puts on one of the best breakfast buffets in Vancouver and is open for casual meals all day; the Five Sails Restaurant, open for dinner only, is the hotel's fine-dining option.

Facilities:
2 restaurants; bar; outdoor heated pool; health club; spa; Jacuzzi; sauna; concierge; business center; shopping arcade; 24-hr. room service; babysitting; laundry service; same-day dry cleaning; nonsmoking floors; squash court
