A wonderfully social hostel, with a friendly staff and lots of common areas for travelers to congregate, this is not only a good pick for budgeteers, but also for solo travelers. Stay here and you'll have no problem finding companions to explore the city. You'll meet them down in the Cavern Bar (which breaks down barriers not just with booze, but with open mic and quiz nights); on the many activities organized by the staff (from pub crawls and movie nights to free walking tours); and at the foosball and pool tables. That being said, you may not meet them in the rooms, as many travelers pass up the 10-bed dormitories for well-priced private rooms with private bathrooms attached. Whichever you pick, know that the beds are comfortable and the hostel kept neat as a pin. The HI Toronto is conveniently located and offers luggage storage, bikes rentals, and breakfasts and dinners (for purchase). Every once in a while the staff has free tickets to hockey games and TV tapings, so be sure to ask.
