Perched at the belly of Fort Pond Bay, Navy Beach derives its inspiration from the former Navy launch that kept watch at this unexpected vista that offers some of the most spectacular sunsets in Montauk. This relatively new restaurant incorporates Asian-inspired seafood and Southern comfort food into its "new American" regional coastal cuisine, and emphasizes local seafood and produce. Welcoming the enterprising palate, inventive dishes range from shrimp and corn fritters with truffle maple syrup and miso-marinated cod with charred scallion, shiitake, and baby bok choy, to buttermilk-fried chicken fortified with cheddar cornbread and a creamy house slaw. The wine list is approachable, and cocktails are inventive. A fast-growing favorite for wedding receptions and special events, the vintage nautical theme throughout the dining room and bar spills out onto the 200-foot private beach that looks out to Gardiner's Island.
