Getting There
Campbell River and Courtenay are the primary access points for the park. Hwy. 28 passes through the northern section of the park and provides access to Buttle Lake, 48km (30 miles) west of Campbell River. There are two access routes to the Forbidden Plateau area from Courtenay. To reach Paradise Meadows from Courtenay and Hwy. 19, follow signs to Mount Washington Resort via the Strathcona Parkway. Twenty-five kilometers (16 miles) up the parkway, you'll come to the resort's Nordic Lodge road on the left. Turn onto this road and go another 1.6km (1 mile) to the Paradise Meadows parking lot. To reach Forbidden Plateau, follow the signs on the Forbidden Plateau road from Hwy. 19 and Courtenay. It's 19km (12 miles) to the former Forbidden Plateau ski area (now closed) and the trail head.
