Frommer's Review
Set directly in Schwerin's historic core, this hotel opened in 1980, when the interiors of three interconnected houses were gutted and rebuilt. The result is a traditional hotel with touches of old-fashioned German styling in the public areas and a more modern and streamlined decor, complete with pinewood furniture, in the somewhat cramped but colorful and cozy bedrooms. The bathrooms come in various configurations, each with a shower or tub/shower combination. Much of the creative energy of this place derives from its restaurant, one floor above street level, where simple, straightforward platters of German food are served. The best examples include sauerbraten, schnitzels, roasted shank of pork, and strudels, with main courses priced from 10€ to 20€ ($13-$26). A house specialty is Mecklenburgischer Nackenbraten mit Dörrobst (a local version of roasted pork with dried fruits).
