This landmark Belle Epoque hotel underwent a thorough renovation beginning on its centenary in 2012 and finishing in late 2013. Built and named for royalty, it remains the most glamorous address in town. The rooms and suites are decorated in a gray-taupe-white palette that recalls the paint colors of Rolls-Royce automobiles. The María Cristina has very good and very discreet security, providing beautiful public rooms with opulent onyx, marble, and faux painting where celebrities can be photographed during the film and jazz festivals, and secure secondary entrances where they can come and go incognito when they choose. The same glam public areas make the hotel a first choice for many society weddings. Even the least expensive guest rooms are spacious. Bathrooms feature very contemporary fixtures. Beds are deeply luxurious. Each room is equipped with broadband Internet, sometimes included in the price, sometimes ridiculously expensive.
