Puerto Rico's premiere arts showcase since opening in 2000, the museum is serious about its role as a repository of the best in Puerto Rican art and in its ability to draw major shows from abroad to the island, featuring renowned international artists. Housed in an historic beauty in downtown Santurce, the museum is home to some of Puerto Rico's greatest stars, including classical masters Francisco Oller (1833–1917) and the late-18th-century master José Campeche, along with modern masters like Rafael Tufiño, Angel Botello, Arnaldo Roche Rabelle, and Antonio Martorell. There is a gorgeous sculpture and botanical garden behind the museum. There’s also a great restaurant on site, and some of San Juan's best restaurants (like Bistro de Paris across the street) nearby.
