Formerly Hotel Palomar, this boutique property may have changed its name but it hasn’t changed its star attraction—Dirty Habit, a hip bar/restaurant tucked away on the fifth floor, boasting a cool terrace with heat lamps and a fire pit, craft cocktails, and fresh, seasonal menus for breakfast and dinner (it’s closed for lunch, but available for private functions midday). The great location is just minutes away from Union Square (though technically South of Market), close to the convention center, museums, and tons of shopping, and it draws visitors traveling for both business and pleasure. The hotel itself was remodeled in 2014, which gave the lobby an elegant chandelier, Art Deco touches, and modern art. Rooms are on the large size for the area and bathrooms offer plenty of counter space. If you plan on sleeping in, avoid rooms on the fifth floor as they pick up the restaurant noise.
