Originally built as the Hotel Colón in 1967, this was once Quito's most modern accommodation. The Hilton brand has managed to keep this older building up to speed, even with strong competition in the neighborhood. Near Parque El Ejido and the commercial heart of the city, the property has long been a cultural hub of sorts, with locals flocking to the hotel's six popular restaurants, or attending events in the 700-person ballroom. Rooms have been continually updated throughout the years, keeping with trends within the brand, most recently adding 42-in. flat-screens and soundproof windows. Interiors are corporate-modern standards, with beige walls and attractive wood accents.
