Urban elegance is the ruling principle in one of the city’s most refined boutique hotels. Built in 1912, the building formerly housed Dominion Fish & Fruit Limited and became a hotel in 1997. Part of a small chain with locations in Montréal, Toronto, and Calgary, the rooms here are furnished with exceptionally comfortable beds and sheets that are downright heavenly. About two-thirds of rooms have both tubs and showers, and bathrooms are well lit and stylish. The continental breakfast (which includes delicious espresso) can be taken on the leafy outdoor terrace in the summer or near the lobby fireplace in colder months.
