A majestic old dame, this downtown 1922 hotel was designed by the architectural firm of Warren and Wetmore, the same team responsible for Grand Central Station in New York City. It still awes with its sweeping stairway, crystal chandeliers, bronze ceiling, and distinctive glass elevator. Rooms, all with king beds, retain much of the same old-world charm without feeling even the slightest bit fusty, while the spa is a nice up-to-date touch.
