Formerly a Residence Inn, this Marriott property  bang in the center of Center City was  completely overhauled in the winter of 2013/14, though public areas retrain some of the 1926 building's original architectural touches. It is directly across the street from the west side of City Hall, offering the same kind of fabulous views as the Ritz Carlton around the corner for about half the price.  That does mean rooms can be noisy, especially those on the front with the coveted City Hall view, so request one on a higher floor to help keep things quieter. The rooms are not overly spacious, but they have a playful modern design, all strident patterns and surprising colors. The in-house restaurant, NINETEEN 26, offers American fare; there's also a Starbucks. It's also just two short blocks down from the Convention Center and two over from Reading Terminal Market—a perfect place when in town for business (the major sights are a half-dozen blocks away). No pets allowed.
