This is a luxurious home-away-from-home happily situated on the island of Tjuvholmen, boasting glorious views over the harbor or across Oslofjord. Part of a group of ten privately owned hotels, the Thief drips bespoke style and comfort, showcasing hand-picked artworks plus individually designed bedrooms that all feature massive beds covered with crisp linen pillows; most have tiny balconies to take in the waterside views. Bathrooms are of white marble and all have eco-friendly rainforest showers to reduce water usage. The cooking in Thief Foodbar and the more upmarket Fru K is overseen by Chef Johan Laursen, formerly of Michelin-starred Maaemo; his New Nordic gastronomy packs the place most nights so be sure to book in advance.
