For Tulane and Loyola visitors and others staying far uptown, this late-1800s boardinghouse with St. Charles Avenue frontage (easy streetcar access) is a splendid choice. The wide porch is stellar for sitting for a spell out front. The park in view is verdant Audubon Park, which adds serenity and spaciousness to the large breakfast room and park-facing guest rooms, all with updated bathrooms (with deep tubs). Antique-laden decor is Victoriana-meets-reproduction; smaller and non-view rooms can feel cramped. The Wi-Fi signal is stretched and may not reach rooms in the back. The ample buffet breakfast also ranks high. Daily cookies and evening sherry add delightfulness; warm, helpful staff multiplies it.
