Established in 1823, it's the city’s next-oldest cemetery. Although the neighborhood is much improved, its reputation as a rough one has kept most tours away. Caution is still advised, and Save Our Cemeteries (www.saveourcemeteries.org) does offer tours in combo with St. Louis No. 1. The Emperor of the Universe, R&B legend Ernie K-Doe, was laid to rest here in 2001; his widow, Empress Antoinette, joined him in 2009. Claude Tremé, founder of the historic neighborhood that bears his name, also rests here.
