Arriving -- The most efficient way to reach Mont-St-Michel is to drive. From Caen, follow A84 southwest towards Avranches, eventually taking the D43 and following signs to its end at Mont St-Michel. Total driving time from Paris is just under 4 hours.
There are no direct trains between Paris and Mont St-Michel. One option is to take a local TER train from Paris’s Gare St-Lazare to Caen, then another local TER train to Pontorson, where a 3.50€ shuttle bus ferries passengers directly to the new visitor center. Another is to take a TGV (fast train) from Paris Montparnasse to Rennes in Brittany, from where a coach takes you to Mont St-Michel for 15€ each way (keolis-armor.com or destination-montsaintmichel.com)
Visitor Information -- The Tourist Information Center is at Grande Rue, Le Mont-Saint-Michel (ot-montsaintmichel.com; tel. 02-33-60-14-30).
