This is an ideal hotel for budget-conscious travelers who don't want a long commute to the city's cultural hotspots. How central is it? Take a clue from the name! The hotel is located right behind the cathedral, so it's within walking distance of all the major sites of the Zocalo:  the Templo Mayor, the Palacio Nacional, and Plaza de la Constitución. A remodel in 2014 means that "cathedral view" rooms now have double-paned windows to block out much of the city noise, firm new mattresses, and new dark wood furnishings. The upgrade is well worth the additional US$20 charged (the cheaper, interior rooms  face the hotel’s courtyard and have older furnishings). The small rooftop terrace also offers a view of the city and the cathedral. A small, continental breakfast is included in the rate. The hotel also offers a US$10 breakfast buffet, but instead of springing for that take a walk a few blocks away to the nearby Restaurante Cardenal, for better food for less money.
