Overton Square, just up the way from Cooper-Young, is booming these days, but this Northern Italian has held its own for more than a decade. The portions are modest, so there's more room to try everything; its strength include decadent pasta (the carbonara and orecchiette alla pugliese are crowd-pleasers), seafood (try the semolina-crusted flounder), and meat entrées (the steak is delightful). The extensive cheese menu will make your head spin, in a good way, as will the three-page wine list. Bari's interior is cozy, making it the perfect spot for a night out with your favorite date. There's also a bar in a separate space from the dining room where you can sit and sip a limoncello.
