Cycling-Jerusalem is a hard city to bike in, with steep hills, insane traffic, and drivers who traditionally ignore cyclists (or worse). That being said, if you just gotta pedal push, bikes can be rented from Bike Jerusalem. The company also offers tours, from half-day jaunts to multi-day tours going well beyond the city.
Jogging-Jerusalem, with its many hills, is not the easiest place for unplanned jogging. The Tayelet (Promenade) in southern Jerusalem overlooking the entire city offers traffic-free pathways and a dramatic site (bus no. 8). The roads and pathways in the Bloomfield Gardens, just above Yemin Moshe, are also good options. Jogging in these places at night is not advised.
Swimming-In summer, reserving a hotel with a pool can be a good investment. We always note when a hotel has a pool in our reviews. However, there are public pools across the city (note: They get packed on especially scorching days). One of the most reasonably priced, if you’re going for more than a quick dip, is the vast country club pool at Kibbutz Ramat Rachel (tel. 02/670-2555).
