This sprawling resort on the coast, in the village of Orašac, 12km (7 miles) north of Dubrovnik, opened in 2009. Overlooking the sparkling blue Adriatic, and backed by rocky mountains, it is almost a self-contained village in itself, with everything from shops and restaurants to pools and watersports facilities. Accommodation options cover 201 spacious rooms and suites and an additional 207 sophisticated residences, which are ideal for families, having either one, two, or three bedrooms, plus a lounge, dining room, and fully equipped kitchenette. Rooms and junior suites come with fabrics in cheerful shades of turquoise, royal blue, and pea-green. The bathrooms have big glass windows through to the bedroom, making the bathtub visible from the bed (modesty curtains have been installed for those who are shy). Executive suites are designed with fabrics in more serious, muted, earthy tones—cream, beige, and brown. The entire resort is set amid beautifully landscaped grounds, with a pleasant waterside promenade and magnificent views of the sun setting over the Elafiti Islands. The hotel runs a shuttle bus and taxi-boat to and from Dubrovnik through summer.
