This is an excellent bargain considering the Historic District is within walking distance (in fact, it’s the only hostel in the city). Don’t expect a posh hotel—this is a basic but charming 19th-century home, with a wooden porch, bagels and toast for breakfast, clean dorms (4 four-person dorms and one eight-person dorm), simple doubles, camping (rent camping gear for $10/night), and shared bathrooms. Personal fans are provided when it gets hot. Towels are $1, but linens are included. The Notso Hostel Annex, 5 blocks away at 33 Cannon St (same check-in), only contains spacious private rooms, some with private bathrooms, and is much quieter, though the Wi-Fi is often not as good.
