This charming 4-star hotel in the old town is housed in a red-brick, half-timbered 17-century building that started life as a grand family home. Bedrooms are decorated with differing styles: try the large traditional room with a canopy bed and wooden beamed ceiling; others have brightly patterned fabrics and walls which range in color from lime green to deep red—one has a Harry Potter theme. It’s not for those with minimalist tastes but it’s great fun if you like something different. Public rooms are equally exuberant in decor with comfortable fuschia and purple armchairs and a welcoming fire in an elaborate hearth. Plus, there’s a cozy bar. The hotel serves a good breakfast and although it doesn’t have a restaurant, room service is available.
