The coolest hotel in Cannes harks back to a Gatsby era of Art Deco furnishings and no-limits lavishness. The style is Louis Vuitton meets vintage ocean liner. The furniture design is based on classic traveling cases, albeit with Apple computers and Nespresso machines thrown into the mix. Popular with both guests and non-residents is the hotel’s Cinq Mondes & Carita Spa. The top-floor terrace features a small infinity pool, a cocktail bar, and linen-shaded sun loungers. It’s also the location of the acclaimed Le Roof modern Mediterranean restaurant (tel. 04-63-36-05-06; main course 34€–59€; lunch and dinner daily, buffet brunch on Sundays) under the direction of head chef Arnaud Tabarec. And boy, what a view it has. Desserts come courtesy of former World Pastry Champion Jérôme de Oliveira, who also maintains Intuitions, a tea and pastry shop on the ground floor. For zipping around town, the hotel offers guests the use of bikes or a chauffeured electric cart.
