Down a winding street just off Philipstockstraat and a very short walk to both the Markt and Burg, the Cordoeanier is about as central as you can get for a hotel in its class and price range. The hotel, formed from three houses from the 18th century, has 22 rooms that are predictably all of different shapes and sizes. They are all simply decorated in a shabby-chic style, with fashionable gray, brown, or cream. They all also have good beds, colorful throws, and wooden floors—some polished, some painted. The smaller rooms have showers, while the larger ones have baths. Breakfast is served at a long communal table in a room off the main lobby. The restaurant here, the Café Rose Red, is welcoming, fun, and almost always crowded. Open daily from 11am to midnight (to 10pm on Sundays), it serves as both a local hangout and as a good place for guests to end the day. Try one of the Trappist beers on offer.
