Formerly the Chandler Inn, this 56-unit boutique hotel was purchased in 2018 by the Staypineapple hotel chain, which has given it a makeover including all-new beds, bedding, and chill fixtures. It’s located in the residential South End, the city’s predominant gay neighborhood. It’s a good choice to get a taste of Boston that’s just off the tourist track. Rooms are small, with no closets and tight bathroom quarters, but its ground floor Trophy Room restaurant and bar often stays busy until 2am.
