This sturdy, dark-stone Crusader church is a stark contrast to the dazzling new Mohammed al-Amin mosque. Built in the 12th century, this was the only church later converted to a mosque by the Mamluks, who also built the city's original souks. On entering, women will be asked to wear a long hooded gown if their clothing isn't modest enough. Don't miss the ornate wooden balcony and the huge chandelier in an otherwise simple interior. On warm afternoons, you'll often find men having a doze on the carpet.
