Nothing if not original, this converted 1940s Texaco station and mechanics’ shop has long been Barbados’ most unusual boutique hotel. The three luxury suites—Cadillac, Studebaker, and Buick—are in the main building, with king-sized four-poster canopy beds on mahogany floors under whirling  fans and private terraces with ocean views. The two smaller garden suites—Corvette and Shelby—are right on the beach in a coral-stone house. The covered deck restaurant is a popular spot even for non-guests and serves Caribbean-Italian fusion fare and wood-fired pizzas right on the beach. They also rent a three-story, four-bedroom Beach House for $1,800–$3,600.
