An inspired idea, this smart little beach shack comes from the chef/owners of one of the finest restaurants on island. The husband-and-wife Blanchards opened this casual takeout shack right next door to their own pioneering main restaurant on Meads Bay. The food is seriously good and amazingly fresh, a hit with hungry beach-goers and foodies alike. Look for lobster rolls, gazpacho, "street" tacos with homemade tortillas, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and an array of salads (shrimp, Greek, lobster, sashimi tuna, curried chicken). Big Mexican-style bowls of rice and beans come with your choice of toppings, including blackened mahi, jerk chicken, or roasted shrimp. Cool down with frozen shakes, root beer floats, or fruity daiquiris. There is plenty of seaside seating, as well as beach chairs, rentable for $3.
