This homey little spot is celebrated for its extensive hummus menu; the creamy original is topped with whole chickpeas and fresh herbs and comes with warm, freshly baked pita, but you can order a more filling version with roasted root veggies or meat, including a tender, slow-cooked beef stew. Other stand-outs are the shakshuka, a spicy tomato-and-egg dish, and siniya, a hearty Palestinian meal of chopped lamb and beef ladled atop a crispy pita. There is a second outpost on the east side of the city at Oostenburgergracht 185, not far from the Artis Zoo and the Tropenmuseum.
