Just a few minutes’ walk from Centraal Station, this hotel is exceedingly convenient. But it’s the friendly, prompt service that make it a real standout. In 2017, Kimpton overhauled the former Crowne Plaza, a 1980s building that incorporated three 17th-century houses. The result is a marvelous blend of stylish contemporary Dutch design with period accents like wood beamed ceilings. The open-plan lobby is particularly welcoming, with Delft-inspired tile floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and lots of comfortable seating nooks where you can enjoy the complimentary all-day tea bar and free wine and snacks at the 5 p.m. social hour. Rooms are spacious and blissfully quiet, with comfortable beds, large walk-in rainforest showers, and plush touches such as Frette robes and local Marie-Stella-Maris bath products. The ground-floor Wyers restaurant offers a serviceable menu of American comfort food, but the new Super Lyan bar is the true star, a candy-colored 1950s-style haunt masterminded by award-winning British mixologist Mr. Lyan.
