Hawaii's six islands are popular with travelers from all over the world because of their rainforests, lagoons, beaches and the multitude of activities that such a varied terrain permits. Because there is so much to see, it is the kind of destination that inspires repeat visits for many travelers. For starters, be sure to check out the site for Hawaii's Visitors and Convention bureau (www.gohawaii.com. For an overview of some of the deals we've found for fall, from airfare to packages to individual hotels, keep on reading.

Hawaiian Airlines (tel. 800/367-5320; www.hawaiianair.com) is running an Autumn Fare Special on nonstop routes between Honolulu and the mainland U.S., valid for travel through December 14. Sample fares include Los Angeles $292 and San Jose and San Francisco $322. As part of this offer you can select a neighboring island for an additional cost of $100 for direct connections.

The airline is also offering some packages for airfare and hotels, resorts and, like this one, a condo property, from west coast departure gates. Four nights from Los Angeles start at $620 per person based on double occupancy for a stay at a condominiumÂ?this gives you more room, quieter stay and the opportunity to cook your own meals if you want.

Another offer, valid through October 15 and based on select west coast departures, is priced from $899 per person for the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel, gives you the fifth night free. The hotel is located on Oahu, at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki. All taxes are included; the offer is also valid through December 23 but with a price increase. The west coast fares available are from Los Angeles and San Francisco.

For a budget trip, Hotels.com (tel. 800/324-7838; www.hotels.com) has several offers for Hawaii that include airfare. Two and three-star hotels on the island of Oahu, for example, start from $358 for four nights and airfare from Los Angeles at the Waikiki Sand Villa Hotel, which is located two blocks from the beach. Free breakfast is included and the rooms have high-speed Internet access, small refrigerators and private lanais.

Scroll down the page of numerous deals to select from a three-star resort on Maui at the Maui Coast Hotel (from $543 for airfare and four nights' accommodations), or go as high as the five-star ResortQuest Kaanapali Shores (packages from $619 per person). Prices will be different if you book from a different departure city and choose a different departure date, of course.

Orbitz (tel. 888/656-4546; www.orbitz.com) has a bunch of what it's calling "Big Island Adventures" including a package starting at $630 per person for a fifth night free if you book four nights, and roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles at the Outrigger Kanaloa Kona. You must book by October 8 -- so act fast -- for travel through December 31, with blackout dates October 16-22 and December 12-January 4, 2007. The prices posted reflect late October travel.

Or select the Royal Kona Resort priced from $105 per night, or $525 total per person for roundtrip airfare from L.A. The offer includes free daily breakfast and also carries an October 8 booking deadline for travel through December 31. There are no blackout dates.

Pleasant Holidays (tel. 800/742-9244; www.pleasantholidays.com) is offering a series of Hawaii vacation deals starting from $433, with reduced rates, free nights, free car rentals, free stays for kids, free upgrades, dining credits and more incentives. The car rental offer is good for vacations through December 31 that are booked by October 31. A six day package at the Castle Island Colony -- located in the heart of Waikiki -- is priced from $433 (plus government taxes and fees) for departures from San Francisco on select Wednesday or Thursday departures through December 7.

Another inexpensive deal offered is a six-day trip from $497 per person for the Aston Maui Lu. The deal is chockablock with freebies: every fifth night free, free car rental, an Aloha Deals coupon booklet, and kids stay, play and eat for free, but only if you book by October 31. Like the other deal, this one is valid for Wednesday or Thursday travel through December 7. This is a budget-priced hotel, but it offers a hotel, and is across the street from two private beach coves.

There are a number of deals for specific properties, including Waikiki's boutique Bamboo Hotel & Spa (tel. 866/406-2782; www.aquaresorts.com), available from $165 per night for a minimum three-night stay, good for travel through December. The package also includes continental breakfast, daily newspaper, 50 per cent off meals at gourmet restaurants in Waikiki, a one-hour massage, and a 2-for-1 luau offer. Located a block from Waikiki Beach, Bamboo is, as its name suggests, an Asian-inspired hotel.
