Pop-Up Marriage License Office Opening at Vegas Airport for Valentine's Day

Around 80,000 couples get married in Las Vegas each year, and about 80% of them are tourists.

For obvious reasons, the nuptials biz is especially brisk around Valentine's Day, when the Clark County clerk's office tends to issue twice as many marriage licenses as usual.

This year, even more lovebirds are expected to tie the knot around the holiday because the Chinese New Year—considered an auspicious day to say "I do"—falls on Friday, February 16, just two days after Valentine's Day and the start of the long Presidents' Day weekend.

To accommodate the surge in aisle-bound Vegas vacationers, a pop-up marriage license office will set up shop in the city's McCarran International Airport from February 9 through 17.

Open on those days from 9am to 5pm, the office will be located in the baggage claim area of Terminal 1, which is maybe the least romantic thing we have ever heard.

There's a license fee of $77 (credit cards accepted), and couples will need to present authorized identification. Visit the Clark County clerk's office website for more information on Nevada marriage license requirements and to fill out a pre-application.

Remember that marriage licenses merely allow couples to wed. Unfortunately, you'll have to leave the airport for the actual ceremony.

Mazel tov and viva Las Vegas!
